Bird Camp 2015: A Photo Story

By
Heather Stephens
Team

Destination: Leavenworth, WA

This past weekend the birds flocked from near and far to a little slice of Germany tucked away in the picturesque landscape of the Pacific Northwest. Four days of running, hiking, biking, meditating, laughing, and time away from life’s frenzy are the perfect remedies to hit reset and rejuvenate the soul. What we learned:

1. Teammate Inspiration. Surround yourself with the people who encourage you to dare greatly and go after your dreams. The stronger we grow as a sisterhood, the more power we have as individuals to take on our most far-reaching goals.

2. Strength training is a key ingredient for success. If you want to get faster and stronger you have to step up your non-running game. Jay Dicharry showed his strength and training tips to improve form and stay healthy for the long haul. Core. Strength. Hop. Repeat.

3. Relaxation and recovery make us stronger. Workouts and races are essential, but gains in adaptation are made during rest and recovery. We mastered the art of kicking back and hitting reset.

4. Unplug to connect. We ran, hiked, biked, floated and splashed our way through the wilderness and also discovered that if you happen to get lost in the woods, you do in fact discover some of the most amazing places.
